About the organisation
Voquent Ltd was originally founded in 2018 by tech entrepreneur Miles Chicoine and co-founder Al Black to actively disrupt the fragmented localisation and voiceover sector. Following Al’s departure from the company in December 2025, Chicoine serves as the majority owner as well as the company’s Managing Director and CEO, continuing to steer the firm’s growth.
Transitioning into media from a background in enterprise software solutions and business systems engineering, Chicoine recognised that casting agents were wasting thousands of hours sorting through generic audio reels; he subsequently built Voquent’s proprietary technology architecture to make global audio sourcing “lightning-quick”.
Headquartered in Glasgow’s Media City with a supplementary corporate presence in London, the privately owned company has scaled rapidly into a massive international operation, housing data for over 40,000 voice actors across thousands of languages and dialects, while remaining fiercely vocal about preserving fair market-value compensation for human talent.
