This is Officer Smith, final log entry – research vessel Europa.
If this recording surfaces, then the retrieval team needs to know we didn’t lose power – we were forced down.
We hit something at 312 metres. It moved.
The sonar went dead immediately after impact, and whatever we struck has been tracking us ever since.
The hull is still holding, but it’s… responding. That’s the only word I have for it. Every time I touch the bulkhead, it moves – like it knows I’m here.
Oxygen reserves are critical. Nine minutes, maybe less.
Long enough to send this. Not long enough to surface.
I need this on record: we should have never come down this deep. There are things down here that are beyond the realm of human understanding.
… It’s closer now. If anyone hears this – do not send another crew.
