Wildfires

Wildfires have swept across Yosemite National Park, leaving hundreds of acres of federally protected land simmering in ashes and ruin.

The entire park was evacuated Thursday evening as western winds directed the growing blaze toward heavily populated areas frequented by tourists and visitors.

Local firefighters have been working round the clock to contain the flames, but park ranger Keith Mitchell says that some sections of forest dating back thousands of years have already been lost.
