Thomas Jefferson was an impressive man. He was the third US president as well as the author of the Declaration of Independence. He lived outside of Charlottesville, Virginia, where he founded the University of Virginia in eighteen nineteen.
Despite his vast accomplishments, his legacy is moderately controversial as he was a prominent slave owner, and most of his architectural achievements were built using slave labor. Click here to learn more about his early life and education.
